Artifice / 2017

Artifice, 2017. Installation view. Bicentennial National Museum, Buenos Aires.

Exhibition title: Artifice
Bicentennial National Museum, Buenos Aires.
Nov 2017
Artifice is a group of objects that are the result of research and an exchange of materials and knowledge with skill workers and their workshops, particularly upholsterers from the periphery of Buenos Aires.
Through these objects I give a new meaning to the discarded material of these activities. I explore the link and the limits between the purely aesthetic object and everyday objects and their respective producers: artist and craftsman. There is an interruption in the routine of the workshops. The worker leaves his daily life and assumes the challenge of being part of a creative process that prioritizes his own discarded material. Along with the objects, a video is exhibited that records an upholsterer in his workspace building an object with the discarded material from his work.
